The municipality of La Riera grouped its population into three hamlets: the block of Montoliu, that of La Riera, and that of Virgili, which still survives. Although industry and commerce are the predominant sectors, the cultivation of hazelnut, carob and olive trees continues to be an outstanding source of income for the municipality.
