San Miguel de Salinas is located in the south of Alicante province, between the cities of Torrevieja and Murcia. The municipality is located on a hill (75m above sea level), offering panoramic views of the salt lakes of La Mata and Torrevieja from many places. As San Miguel de Salinas is inland, this municipality does not have a beach. But the popular sandy beaches of Orihuela Costa are a few minutes' drive away. Just the fact that San Miguel de Salinas is inland has its charms. To the north of the municipality you overlook the salt lakes. South of the municipality an expansive view over lemon and orange trees. When in bloom, these trees give off a pleasant sweet fragrance. In the centre there are several bars, restaurants, supermarket and plenty of Spanish shops. During the summer months, you often see older people sitting with a chair along the streets, arguing with their neighbour or friend. Lovely isn't it?
