Before 12 September 1940 and the discovery of the Lascaux cave, this former noble repaire was the heart of the Lascaux estate. Although the manoir de Lascaux and the famous cave remain closely linked, the manor house is located in a wooded setting close to the village of Montignac. The earliest mention of this former noble residence, now known as a manor house, dates back to 1400. The building is well-oriented and has been altered several times over the centuries, resulting today in a rustic dwelling spanning more than 250 m (2, 691 sq ft) over 3 stories. Situated around two kilometres from the village and all amenities, the Manor House enjoys a peaceful but not secluded location. More than 5 hectares of meadows and woods surround the property, ensuring peace and quiet.
