I present to you this Passion of a house, located in a full Alentejo village, with 276m2 of built area on a 303m2 plot, intelligently and functionally distributed over 2 floors. The ground floor features 5 rooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which is exterior, and on the first floor, there are 3 rooms, 1 bathroom, and a terrace with views of the Alentejo hills as well as a balcony overlooking the Church square.LOCATIONThe house is located in the small village of So Pedro do Corval, the land of Alentejo pottery par excellence, and just a few minutes from Monsaraz, a medieval walled village planted on top of a hill. There, time seems to stand still among walls, Roman ruins, Moorish memories, and the enchanted layout of cobbled streets. From the top of the castle, you can see Alqueva the largest artificial lake in Europe which transforms the landscape into a mirror of light and silence. And on the other side of the mirror, already in Spanish lands, you can almost see with the naked eye the border village of Vila Nueva del Fresno, just 20 kilometers away. The surrounding territory is of remarkable archaeological richness, with dozens of megalithic monuments dolmens, menhirs, cromlechs punctuating the fields with testimonies of civilizations that lived there and worshiped the land. One of these magical places is the Lovers Rock where girls from the region would throw stones in hopes of knowing when they would marry. Each stone that stayed on top of the rock corresponded to a year of waiting. And even those who dont believe in legends, cannot remain indifferent to the telluric force of this ancient rock. The house shares this ancient energy with a wide view of the stars, deep tranquility, and rare brightness all one desires when seeking refuge, restart, or simply peace.SPIRIT OF THE PLACEMore than a house, this is a space of memory and enchantment. The old stones tell stories. The trees offer fruit and shade. The silence is inhabited by a thousand subtle murmurs of the wind, the birds, the time that lingers here at a slower pace. And the ancient tradition of pottery mastery refers back to immemorial times. And it remains alive. Currently, So Pedro do Corval has more than twenty artisanal pottery workshops, representing the highest concentration of potteries in Portugal and one of the largest on the Iberian Peninsula.Ideal for those seeking a reconnection with nature, inspiration to create, time to live slowly. The location offers the best of both worlds: creative isolation and proximity to historical and cultural centers, such as Reguengos, vora, or even Badajoz, across the border. This house is more than a mere property. It moves those who inhabit it from within.LEGEND OF THE HOUSEEngraved in the stone at the entrance, a date: 1698. In the quiet village of So Pedro do Corval, it is said that this is the oldest or one of the oldest dwellings in the settlement. The local legend tells that the Church of So Pedro, right in front of the house, was built with the treasure left in the care of a simple cobbler, former owner of this residence. At the end of the 17th century, early 18th century, the man sheltered two Italians fleeing from war. Which war? Oral memory doesnt keep it.What is kept is this: the two strangers, whose faces are believed to be recognized sculpted in the pediment of the Church, left suddenly, leaving the cobbler with some modest bags, with the promise of return. But they never came back. When, after a long time, the good man opened the bags, he found gold, silver, and shining jewels inside. Instead of keeping them for himself, he decided to fund the church's construction. It is said that it was also at that time the house gained its second floor, with the small wrought iron balcony that still holds the view over the square and the Church.THE RECONSTRUCTIONAcquired in 2016, the house was completely renovated, respecting the original design. Earth materials - the famous tiles - were used to cover the floor, on the ground floor of the house and the terrace garden, where you can also see a beautiful carpet of hydraulic tiles, produced in a very old Estremoz workshop according to the most archaic methods. Numbers 11 and 13, now united, form a harmonious whole but with the possibility of becoming independent. The back terrace-garden has potential to include a small pool, in the former pigsty space. It became a kind of storage and drying area but has potential to fulfill other functions as it has wide sun exposure as well as a set of roofs where solar panels can be placed. There is water, an exterior bathroom, a wood oven, and a well.In the exterior ground, which was completely abandoned to wild plants and some collapsed roofs, central elements were maintained: the old olive tree, over fifty years old, still bearing firm-tasting olives the neighboring lime tree, which covers with fruit every year. a loquat tree that fills with loquats in Spring and shelters numerous birds. other small fruits and flowers, which were carefully planted.
